Single Day Workout Fees

If you are not a member and you want to workout for just one day the fee is $20 (plus tax if applicable).

Does $20 for just one day make sense when we offer a membership for just $10 a month?  Yes, it does.

I love our members.  I really do care what happens to them.  I look at everything we do and use my best judgment to determine how we can create a safe, comfortable environment for our members.  If you want to be treated with that kind of respect and consideration then maybe you should become a member.

If you are not a member then I consider you more like a stranger.  This is because a non-member is more likely to abuse equipment,  leave weights unracked, ogle the women, be rude to others and steal from the locker rooms than a member by a wide margin.  Does that sound harsh?  Well, life is harsh at times.  But no member who comes to his or her gym on a daily basis and faces the same members on a daily basis would abuse equipment,  leave weights unracked, ogle the women, be rude to others, or steal from the locker rooms.  Okay, once in awhile we still get someone with one or more of those attributes.  We weed them out and help them act better or we terminate their membership.

So we would rather lose out on a few easy bucks to the non-member because they are much more likely to be one of those people who our regular members wished we had never allowed in the club in the first place.

And we are also not big on the "Free Pass" thing anymore.  Guest passes and trial workouts made sense back in the 70's and 80's when people didn't understand the need to exercise, all the great benefits of exercise, and were expected to sign long-term contracts.  Today most of the people who want a free pass to "try out" the gym" are seasoned gym-goers.  Often times they are travelers or members of another gym that is closed for the holiday.

You really want to try out our gym?  Great!  We would LOVE to have you try out our gym - as long as you agree to follow our rules.  Join for a month or two and if you decide you don't like it you can cancel.

One way to put this whole "try out the gym" thing in perspective is to compare it to another industry to which we can all relate.  This is an industry that is very competitive, offers products that we may or may not like and which have been proven to be as good for your health as exercise.  I am talking about the restaurant industry. Can anyone give me a list of restaurants where I can try out their dinners?  If I like them I will probably go back, considering I do plan on continuing my eating program for years to come.

One last thing.  Don't be surprised if we raise the One Day Workout Fee from $20 to $25.
